WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT/CERTIFICATION

SILICA HAZARD AWARENESS

The Latino Academy’s Silica Hazard Awareness Training program educates participants about the health risks of respirable crystalline silica and how to minimize exposure. Ideal for those in construction, concrete work, or demolition, it includes instruction on OSHA standards, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

Enrollment Requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years old. The training is open to workers of all backgrounds, including those with no prior experience. It is especially recommended for individuals who regularly handle or are exposed to materials that generate silica dust.

Tuition and Fees

Silica Hazard Awareness Training is offered completely free of charge. Thanks to funding provided through health and safety grants and strategic partnerships, all participants receive access to course instruction, training materials, and official certification at no cost. 

Schedule and Format

​Training sessions are conducted in person throughout the year and scheduled based on demand. Each session includes interactive lectures, visual demonstrations, and group discussions. Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the training.
