DIESEL TECHNICIAN
The Latino Academy’s Diesel Technician Program trains participants for entry-level careers in diesel engine repair and maintenance. Offered in partnership with Madison College, the program provides hands-on instruction in engine systems, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical components. It is designed for individuals interested in transportation, mechanics, or fleet maintenance. Classes are held in person at Madison College’s Truax campus. All materials, instruction, and job support are provided at no cost for eligible participants.​

Enrollment Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. While no prior experience is required, a strong interest in mechanical work, reliability, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Participants should be comfortable working with their hands and committed to completing the full program. Bilingual instruction and support are available to assist Spanish-speaking students.
Tuition and Fees
The Diesel Technician Program is free of charge for eligible participants, thanks to grant funding and community partnerships. All instruction, training materials, safety equipment, and job placement support are fully covered.


Schedule and Format
This program is conducted fully in person at Madison College's Truax campus, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities equipped with diesel engines, tools, and shop equipment. The training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practice, allowing students to apply their learning in real-time. Classes are typically held in the evenings or on weekends to accommodate adult learners and those with work or family obligations.
