COMPUTER BASICS
The Latino Academy’s Computer Basics program helps adults build confidence and foundational technology skills for both personal and professional growth. This hands-on course prepares participants for higher-paying office or technical roles by strengthening their digital literacy. Students receive beginner-level instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email use, and typing, and are introduced to artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. The curriculum also includes basic computer hardware and software, resume writing, and online job application support.

Enrollment Requirements
Students must be at least 18 years old. While no formal education is required, it is recommended that participants be able to read and write at a beginner level. There are no language restrictions—students are welcome whether they prefer Spanish or English. A brief pre-class assessment is offered to support placement, but the only firm requirement is a commitment to attend all sessions during the course. No ID or residency documentation is needed.
Tuition and Fees

This program is completely free for all participants. There are no registration or material costs. All course materials are provided, and students have access to the computer lab Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, whenever it is not being used for scheduled classes.

Schedule and Format
The course runs for four weeks and meets twice per week, with each session lasting three hours. All instruction is delivered in person to support hands-on learning. Class times are flexible and scheduled based on community interest. Current options include:

The program will expand to include three to four levels, each one month long, serving learners from complete beginners to intermediate-advanced users focused on workplace digital skills.
