JASON
CDL PROGRAM
In April 2025, Jason M. connected with the RTTC Team seeking a new beginning. Unemployed and navigating a career transition, Jason had a background in sales and marketing but was ready to pursue a more stable and mobile profession that could support his family. He set his sights on obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and starting a career in the trucking industry.
After encountering financial and logistical barriers to accessing traditional CDL training programs, Jason was referred to the Latino Academy of Workforce Development’s CDL Program. He applied, was accepted, and began training in July 2025.
From the start, Jason demonstrated initiative and determination. Latino Academy staff supported him every step of the way—assisting with resume and cover letter updates, streamlining paperwork, and providing personalized job search support.
Jason was proactive throughout his training, researching employers and applying for jobs that aligned with his new career path. With the ongoing support of Latino Academy staff, he entered the job market with confidence and clarity about his goals.
On July 19, 2025, Jason successfully earned his CDL Class A license, and shortly on August 11, 2025, secured a full-time Class A driving position with Future Foams, a company that recognized his potential and hired him to transport goods and furniture across Wisconsin.
Today, Jason earns $26.00 per hour with full benefits. He describes his job as both fulfilling and liberating, allowing him to travel, stay active, and build a sustainable future for his family.
“I was in a period of career transition, and Latino Academy helped me turn things around,” Jason shared. “From the very first contact, they offered personal support, excellent training, and weekly job leads. The CDL program not only saved me nearly $6,000 in training costs, but also gave me the skills and confidence to succeed. I’m now working in a career I love, making great money, and excited for the future.”
Jason’s journey is a testament to the transformative impact of accessible, community-based workforce development. Through targeted support and quality training, Latino Academy empowered Jason to overcome unemployment and build a career with long-term promise—demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in creating real, measurable change.
"I was in a period of career transition in my life, and I knew I wanted to obtain my CDL and find a job driving a truck. I have never enjoyed being stuck in one place all day working, and so trucking was a great option for me that allowed me to be on the move in a new location every day. I obtained my CDL permit, and had planned to attend one of the local paid CDL training schools. There were some unforeseen obstacles to starting the paid schools, and that is when I was referred to Latino Academy’s CDL program. "
"From the very first contact my interactions with Latino Academy were very positive and with a personal touch. The first day I met with them they helped me update my resume and cover letter. I applied to the CDL program, and was accepted a few weeks later. I was very excited for this opportunity because it would help me achieve my goal, and save me around $6,000! "
Latino Academy had administrative staff that assisted with all of the paperwork and computer training that I needed to complete. The hands on training was really great! They had 3 trucks, and only 4 people in my class. This allowed all of the students to have a significant amount of time behind the wheel and learning hands on how to safely operate the truck. The instructors were very experienced, and gave practical instruction and advice every step of the way. After 6-7 weeks I felt confident I would pass my CDL Class A driving test. In my 8th week I took the test, and passed! I was now a truck driver!"
"Along the way, Latino Academy was assisting me with looking for truck driving jobs, and sending me opportunities almost every week. I was able to secure a local Class A driving position prior to finishing the class! I am now working as a truck driver, making great money, and I love the job."
"I am so thankful for everything Latino Academy did for me to help me achieve my career goals and enter this new chapter in my life. The people at Latino Academy make all the difference. They truly care about the participants success and went above and beyond in helping me achieve my goals. Thank you Latino Academy for the great work you do everyday!!"
