Meet Dulce M. Sánchez, a proud participant in the Latino Academy’s GED/HSED Program. For Dulce, the Academy has been a stepping stone for both personal growth and expanding her business.
"The programs I’ve participated in have been essential for my growth—not only personally but also for my business," she shares.
Through her time at the Academy, Dulce earned her GED diploma and ServSafe certification, pivotal steps that strengthened her business and expanded her reach in the community. She also attended English classes that enhanced her ability to connect meaningfully with others. "The Academy helped me improve my communication with others, which has been vital for my business," Dulce explains.
Dulce’s connection with the Academy goes beyond the classroom. "We always think of them because they speak our language and understand our needs. They do it respectfully," she says, sharing how much the Academy feels like a second home for her and her family.
Now, Dulce is dedicated to encouraging others to take advantage of the Academy’s offerings. "I always tell people how amazing it is to have this resource. I share my experience, help translate, or even study with them when I can."

Jeannette Araus’
Meet Jeannette Araus, a dedicated participant in the Latino Academy’s English and Daycare Certification Courses. For Jeannette, the Academy has been more than a place of learning—it has opened doors to a brighter future for herself and her family.
"I’m so grateful that the Latino Academy has allowed me to take courses that have prepared me to work, and at no cost! The professionals here are amazing, and the staff’s attention is excellent. I’m so happy," Jeannette shares with a smile.
Since joining the Academy, Jeannette has experienced significant positive changes. "The Latino Academy has opened doors for many families. Personally, it helped my nephew find a job, and I’m so thankful for that," she says.
Inspired by her own journey, Jeannette is now committed to encouraging others to explore the Academy’s programs. "I’ve had the chance to motivate friends and acquaintances to come to the Latino Academy. Here, they’ll find training and the possibility of quick employment."

"I’m taking English classes with the Latino Academy, which are very affordable for low-income individuals like myself. It’s a great opportunity for people like me who want to learn English and keep moving forward toward our goals," she shares with gratitude.
For Aura, learning English goes beyond mastering a language—it’s a way to open doors to new possibilities. Her dedication in the ESL program has already brought her significant progress. "I’ve made so much progress in my classes, and that brings me a lot of satisfaction," she says with pride.

Meet Melissa Pinto Celis, a dedicated participant in the Latino Academy’s CDL Program (Commercial Driver's License). Melissa’s story is one of transformation—both personally and professionally—supported by the Academy’s resources and community.
"The Latino Academy has given me the tools I need to take my skills to the next level," Melissa says. "But the best part is the human warmth that’s present in every one of their certified
programs."
Before joining the Academy, Melissa didn’t feel confident navigating professional conversations. Today, she speaks with fluency and the right vocabulary, strengthening her professional relationships and building connections within her neighborhood.
"Now, I feel secure in starting conversations and connecting with others, which has improved my interpersonal relationships at work and in my community," she explains.
Melissa’s growth has become an inspiration to those around her. "The changes in my life have motivated others in my community to explore the opportunities available to them through the Latino Academy. They’re now taking steps to find programs that fit their personal and professional goals."
She also highlights an aspect of the Academy that resonates deeply with her: the supportive strength of the women involved in the organization.
"The feminine strength here is amazing, strong, and equitable. These are empowered women helping other women achieve their family goals in an inclusive and supportive way," Melissa shares.

German Marquez’s Story
When German Marquez first arrived in Wisconsin, he faced the uncertainty of starting over in a new place. With no connections and many questions about building a career in an unfamiliar environment, he found a source of support and guidance in the Latino Academy of Workforce Development.
"The Latino Academy has been there for me from the beginning," German shares. "They provided the guidance I needed, helping me prepare for the workforce and giving me the push I needed to take a big step in my life—starting my own company."
Through the Academy’s Business Accelerator program, German developed skills in technology and business analysis that enabled him to grow his business and pursue larger contracts. Now, he’s able to support his family and offer opportunities for growth by creating jobs for others.
"Thanks to the Academy, I’ve found greater stability—financially, emotionally, and professionally. The tools they gave me are helping me build a business that can be a blessing to many families, not just my own," he says with gratitude.
German’s time with the Latino Academy has deepened his pride in his identity as a Latino. "I’ve always known that we, as Latinos, are close-knit when it comes to family and friendships. But the Academy helped me see that we are all playing a key role in the development of this country. It feels good to know that, as a Latino, I am contributing to the future of the generations to come."
Beyond his personal success, German is motivated to give back, inspired by the support he received. "I feel a responsibility to help those who are now in the position I once was. The Academy has been a blessing to me, and I want to be a blessing to many more."
